“The more the panic grows, the more uplifting the image of man who refuses to bow to the terror.” – Storm of Steel, Ernst Jünger
As the war of Ukraine now goes into its second week, there is only so much stress and panic that can weigh on a person before numbness takes over. War and chaos often has a strange effect on the human body and mind. War brings a new perspective to someone’s life, it changes what we think is important and what we truly need. What we are seeing in Ukraine is not what anyone expected. Even those who have been present in the conflict for the past 8 years; aware of the horrors of this war in Ukraine long before February 24, 2022.
We all view the world differently due to our experiences. In May 2014, the early days of this war, the world was blind to this conflict. Ukraine was in a far-away place that was not important to the west. That being the case it was important to share what was going on and not let those standing up for their people, the nation, go unnoticed. There was little English content covering this struggle in Ukraine so a large social media outreach effort was set up which allowed for the victories and tragedies of our movement’s soldiers to be shown around the world. As days turned into months then years the quality and performance of Azov soldiers became known. As battles and fights were won by Azov causing embarrassment to their advisories the group further because a target, the aggressive propaganda from Russia and often the West, started to take aim. Lies were spread, and as they often do, it drew low-quality people to the movement who had no value and were more harmful than helpful. In this cycle, the propaganda would use these examples to discredit the overall message and make gaining support hard for some in the Western Pan-European nationalist scene. The rejection of these negative and useless elements had no bearing on the propaganda, as was to be expected.
Nationalism and Traditionalism actually exist in Ukraine as it does in other countries in Intermarium while nationalism in the USA and much of western Europe only exists in theory. While the western elements of the right tend to simply speak about what these concepts entail and what they would look like in practice, the Intermarium states simply put the concepts into action. The west has memes and chat rooms, while Intermarium has book clubs, concerts, outreach organizations, and more. The countries of Intermarium know what they are fighting for and are prepared to FIGHT, while Nationalism in the West is just discussions in the shadows of Telegram. There is a major disconnect when you start to see what nationalism truly is in reality, as well as how successful it can be. There is nothing in our modern world that exemplifies the Pan-European nationalist movement, and what it should be, more than what was built in Ukraine. From being in a crowd of tens of thousands of nationalists for a political march, to high production events, to nationalist cultural centers and book clubs. The defense of this environment is paramount to not only them, but also the world.
When Russia invaded this time the world and its press paid attention to the scale and aggression that no one thought was possible. We were all left with many questions but only one that mattered. “How do we fight?”
There has been overwhelming general support for Ukraine this time, for many reasons. We must understand that this is one of the most important events for anyone who calls themselves a Nationalist. We must join together and support the defenders of Ukraine; our nationalist brothers and sisters. We are not asking for help for a political march or donating to help someone through a hard time. We are being called to assist in saving tens of thousands of lives. These are the lives of the men, women, and children of Ukraine. We are being called to support our fellow Nationalists, in existence through the cold, long, difficult night. These brethren of ours are facing the shelling, bombs, and bullets of an enemy that wants nothing more than their total destruction; but together we will stand and fight! There are many ways to join this fight; by protesting your government’s inaction, such as what the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia did recently. Another way of getting involved is gathering donations and building combat first aid kits, as American metapolitical organization Revolt Through Tradition has. Even more importantly, if you are ready and motivated, by joining the Ukrainian Foreign Legion. Whatever you do, you must do something. Do not just talk, but act, and act now. When you are old and withering away in a hospital bed you will look back at your life on this earth and the regrets you have will not include wishing you lent a hand to your people. Help secure our fellow nationalist’s existence and protect the future of their nation.
