August 3-4, Estonian parliamentarians from EKRE, Anti Poolamets and Ruuben Kaalep, visited Lviv, Kyiv and Irpin to show their solidarity with fighting Ukraine, support the front and plan further international activities.
In Kyiv, they met with Olena Semenyaka, coordinator of NGO Intermarium Support Group, assistant of MP Sviatoslav Yurash, who showed them jointly with the volunteer of the Estonian organization Ukraine Aid Operations the results of the russian invasion in Irpin.
They saw the destroyed by Irpin territorial defense russian column in Dmytrivka, the cemetery of civilian cars which were shot by the russians, shelled by the russian artillery houses, ruined bridges and entire city quarters… As they fairly remarked, we witness here the traces of the battles that lasted for hours yet will define the history of Ukraine and Europe for centuries.
In the evening of August 4, Anti Poolamets and Ruuben Kaalep spoke at the rally in Kyiv concerning the fates of the captive Azovstal defenders whose exchage was guaranteed by the Red Cross and the UN and alarmed everyone after the brutal murder of 53 Azov soldiers in Olenivka colony and announced by the “DNR” upcoming tribunal for the rest of Azov soldiers in Mariupol.
“We are deeply grateful to Estonian MPs Anti Poolamets and Ruuben Kaalep for taking a stand against russian genocidal war against Ukraine and disgusting murder of Azov POWs in Olenivka colony. Their powerful speeches at Sophiyska Square received an overwhelming response among the relatives and supporters of Azovstal defenders.
We encourage other MPs to follow their example and to push in their parliaments for the recognition of russia as a terrorist state, as well to demand investigation of new Katyn in Olenivka and the immediate exchange of Azov POWs. Impotence of the Red Cross and the UN is a fact that requires our immediate solidary response.
To remind, a few days ago russian “supreme court” recognized “the Azov Battalion” a terrorist organization in order to justify its yet another hideous crime and refuse from the exchange procedure.
This is a test to Western organizations, media and public figures who have been helping russian propaganda for years by portraying Azov soldiers and everyone related as extremists and Nazis. It is obvious to anyone that the only totalitarian evil that has not been condemned and keeps committing unbelievable atrocities is post-Bolshevik russia. Show us your vigour in fighting the true evil, or else you will be an accomplice,” Olena Semenyaka wrote on her social networks.
To remind, Leo Kunnas, a well-known Estonian military analyst, MP and science fiction writer, who, in particular, envisaged the future war against russia and transformed the perception of russian invasion of Ukraine in Estonia, belongs to the EKRE faction in the parliament. He was the first commander of the Estonian Military Academy and at the age of 16 was sent to the Soviet prison for “attempted border crossing and possession of firearms,” which was also reflected in his work.
Besides, Anti Poolamets and Ruuben Kaalep brought Mavic 3 drone to the soldiers of Azov who usually apply precisely this model.
At Kyiv Rehabilitation Center, they also paid a visit to wounded soldiers of Azov, listened to their stories and promised further assistance to them and the doctors.
Having talked to Olena Tolkachova, the head of the Patronage Service of Azov and Azov Angels Charitable Fund, at the solemn funeral in Kyiv of Zoriana, a female medic who fell at Azovstal in Mariupol while performing her duties, they received detailed information about the most urgent needs.
A fruitful visit of the Estonian delegation was sealed by making further plans regarding the support for the Ukrainian front and the initiatives of the Intermarium Caucus of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Finally, Ukraine Aid Operations kindly donated the soldiers of Azov the encrypted radios, IFAKs, plate carriers, survival and trauma kits, ballistic glasses, and other much required stuff on the frontline.
This Estonian volunteer organization, which usually delivers aid directly to the combat areas, knows very well what our defenders need the most and summarized pleasantly the visit of the Estonian partners.
Meanwhile, we keep gathering funds to acquire 150 night vision devices for the Azov Special Operations Forces.
