In July-September of the last year, a number of MEPs and members of national parliaments, in particular, Alexis Georgulis, Catherine West, Clare Daly, Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, Rosa Lund, Miguel Urban, Monika Falej and Waldemar Herdt, spoke in support of Anatoly Shariy seeking to criminalize National Corps and the Azov Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine as the vanguard of political and military resistance to pro-Kremlin forces in Ukraine and the Russian occupiers. Respective statements by the deputies at the request of the Shariy Party were quoted on its resources.
The absurdity of the situation has become apparent in February, after the Security Service of Ukraine served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime to the citizen of Ukraine Anatoly Shariy in the framework of criminal proceedings on charges of high treason and violation of equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds. According to the investigators, he carried out illegal activities to the detriment of Ukraine’s national security in the information sphere, in particular, at the request of special services of the Russian Federation. Moreover, Anatoly Shariy, who did not appear at the office of the Security Service of Ukraine to participate in the interrogation as a suspect, was declared wanted by the state, and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has filed a lawsuit in the Kyiv District Administrative Court demanding the banning of the Shariy Party.
The obligation to inform the (euro)parliamentarians about the facts of misuse of their names and business reputation by the Shariy Party was assumed by the NGO “The Sword of the Ukrainian Nation” (Mech Ukrayins’koyi Natsii). Recently, the editorial board of the Intermarium Support Group received copies of the letters sent to their mailboxes and was offered to cover this information for our audience, as well as domestic and foreign media. It was accomplished in this material on the Group’s resources, available in Ukrainian and English. Copies of the letters are attached.
