Arsen Avakov: an attempt to discredit the Special Forces Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine is an indicator of the quality of its fight for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity
The Minister of the Interior stated this today during a meeting with the Chef of Mission of the United States of America, Ms. Christine Quinn, commenting on Ukraine’s official position on an information campaign to discredit the Azov unit.
According to him, the Azov special purpose unit of the military department #3057 of the Eastern Operational-Territorial Association of the NGU is a legal regular unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. The personnel of the unit performs exemplarily the combat missions to protect the Motherland.
“A shameful information campaign regarding the alleged propagation of Nazi ideology among the personnel of the Azov special purpose separate detachment of the military department #3057 of the Eastern Operational-Territorial Association of the NGU is a deliberate attempt to discredit the Azov unit and the National Guard of Ukraine, first and foremost, in the minds of international partners of Ukraine, provoke a crisis in relations with our allies, weaken our position in the world. It is the combat effectiveness of the Azov Special Forces Unit in defending the state against military aggression that is the real reason behind attempts to stop it by another, hybrid, method. I hope that Ukraine’s honest and open position and facts will be taken into account by our partners and allies in the struggle for the protection of democracy. Together we will counter these dirty and insidious methods,” Arsen Avakov said.
